THINGS: 30 OCTOBER 2017

Nothing spooky about this edition of THINGS…..

THING 1: WEDNESDAY 1 NOVEMBER RUN FROM GRAMMAR CARLTON RUGBY FOOTBALL CLUB

Wednesdays in November we are going to try meeting at the Rugby Club venue. It’s on the Campbell Crescent edge of Cornwall Park. There is free parking and drinks afterwards will be at the Club upstairs.

When:        Wednesday 1 November, 5:30 PM

Where:  Grammar Carlton Rugby Football Club Inc

2 Puriri Dr, Epsom, Auckland 1051, New Zealand

THING 2: THANK YOU FROM DOUG AND GAYE

“Hi all,

Just letting you all know we put the wedding anniversary gift to good use last weekend at Waitakere Lodge.

We arrived at the lodge just put our bag down in the lovely apartment (which had views to Rangitoto and the SkyTower)  which the lodge had upgraded for us; when there was a knock on the door and in walked a staff member with a chilled bottle of bubbly and a cheeseboard – lovely. We wandered up to the bar for pre dinner drinks then onto the restaurant for a lovely meal and more wine.

Slept in a super king bed (we only needed half of it) and finished our lovely stay with breakfast.

So thanks to all who put in for this – it was really appreciated.

Doug & Gaye”

THING 3: MARATHON RESULTS

Several strong showings at the Marathon this past weekend.

Aly looked very strong:

Brandon  – stylish as always.

Lay was looking good too

No photos of Natalie but that’s what happens when you are just a blur.

Many thanks to Barb for the action shots.

THING 4: BECAUSE IT WAS THERE

Lest you think that all the action was on the waterfront this weekend, we had one talented individual who climbed K2 this weekend.

No not that one – but one equally as impressive.

Murphy Niuapu did the Coromandel Classic K2 this weekend in: 6hrs 49min 52 sec

Umm, that’s 200 kilometres!  On a bike! In the Coromandel!  In under 7 hours! Almost unbelievable! Most impressive. Well done Murphy!

THING 5: SATURDAYS AT MISSION BAY

We are meeting on the Waterfront during the summer season. And some brave souls actually threw themselves into the surf last Saturday, while the rest of us ran or walked. The weather wasn’t particularly summer-like but we do hold out hope….

Come join us!

Where:       Mission Bay city-side carpark

When:        7:30 am

Post run coffee:  ~9:00am at Mission Bay Cafe

THING 6: THE WAYFARERS RETURN

Welcome home to Barb and Jane – who landed on Wednesday morning and showed up for drinkies after the run on Wednesday night full of tales of champagne and sunshine.

It’s great to have you back!

THING 7: KOHI SWIMS BEGIN AGAIN

Thursday 2 November is the kick off of Kohi summer swims. We have Marion, Doug and Shelley committed as regulars and some of the rest of us will be intermittent. Here’s praying Poseidon’s in a good mood!

When:  6:15 pm

Where: Kohi beach

Come to cheer if not to swim.

THING 8: NOVEMBER BIRTHDAYS

Happy birthdays in November –

That’s all for this week folks.

Keep on your toes Tuesday night…  the Gobble-uns ‘ll git you; Ef youDon’tWatchOut!
